JOIN US FOR OUR SPRING FUNDRAISER

 CELEBRATING THE SPRING EQUINOX!

 SATURDAY MARCH 20th 2-5pm PST

 ON ZOOM

ABOUT THE SPRING THING FLING
We found a good thing...

Our “Spring Thing Fling” is inspired by the success of our virtual Haunted House for Halloween 2020 where we set up a multi-room zoom party, each containing fun and unique activities and performances for the whole family. Our Spring Thing Fling will be a similar layout on zoom but this time the focus will be about all things Spring-like!

Just like our Haunted House, we are lining up performers, artists, and playworkers across the US to fill these rooms with musical performances, art activities, demos with nature experts and more!

Our director, Jeremiah Dockray will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and will chaperone guests to the various rooms and be the time keeper so everyone gets to partake in their preferred happening.

COSTS

Taking barriers away from play opportunities, particularly self-directed play, is our driving mission and fundraisers like this are vital in fulfilling it. If your family is able to make a donation, you are helping ensure we continue to provide more events like this as well as educational programs, support groups, and in-person pop-up and permanent adventure playgrounds when it is once again safe to do so.

We want folks to come no matter their financial situation and we've priced this event in hopes that those who are able to give a little more... can, and those who may not... won't be obligated to.

Tickets range from $0 to $25 and a single family can join in with one ticket. If you can give a little that's great if you can't that's ok too!

Can you make it?
Details
Can't Make it but still want to donate?

We have a variety of ways to make a monetary donation! Donations over $200 qualify for tax deduction and will receive a receipt for your records. But every dollar helps!

JEREMIAH DOCKRAY-MASTER OF CEREMONIES
SCV Adventure Play Foundation Co-Founder and  Director

ABOUT JEREMIAH

Jeremiah Dockray is a playworker, organizer, part-time filmmaker and full-time dad in North Los Angeles County. Jeremiah is a co-founder and Director of SCV Adventure Play Foundation.

Playwork and adventure playgrounds became a part of Jeremiah's life when he stumbled across the concepts of adventure playgrounds in a historical article in 2013. From there on he began digging for more information on their existence and found Pop-up Adventure Play, and jumped into their playworker development course. Jeremiah was hooked and began their course outside of his work as a reality TV editor.

Shortly after, Jeremiah and his wife Erica discovered and purchased a 30 year abandoned park in Val Verde, CA with the mission to develop it into the 7th permanent adventure playground in the US. They also started running pop-up adventure playgrounds. Since then, they have run pop-ups all over LA County from backyards to museums and everywhere in-between, offered workshops on play and playwork, talked at conferences about their work, run professional development programs for schools, helped orchestrate the first playwork campference, and co-founded the playwork collectiveand more!

THE HIKING TRAIL:

There's so much to explore outside and in this Zoom room your creativity and imagination are exactly what's needed to help guide Liesl, on a great adventure. Liesl will pick the place, but *YOU* get to help direct the journey!

In what direction should we hike? What do we want to look at? What are you curious to investigate? What should we bring along... and why would what you're bringing make our adventure more exciting? Join in as we create an epic adventure together virtually AND in the wild.

ABOUT LIESL:

Your guide, Liesl, does a lot of hiking, camping, and solo adventuring. She enjoys picking random places on the map to explore and loves poking around in new places to see what kind of fun stuff she can find. Sometimes that means she takes a long hike to a scenic lookout, sometimes it means she finds a tucked away place to camp far away from other people, and sometimes it means she laughs with joy at quirky stuff she finds in a small town. Liesl likes to wear her official adventure glasses everywhere she goes (shhhhh: they're imaginary glasses!) because they help her see there is so much in the world that is beautiful, amazing, and awesome.
