SPRING THING FLING
Time & Location
About The Event
Our “Spring Thing Fling” is inspired by the success of our virtual Haunted House for Halloween 2020 where we set up a zoom with several breakout rooms, each containing fun and unique activities and performances for the whole family. Our Spring Thing Fling will be a similar layout on zoom but this time the focus will be about all things Spring-like!
Each breakout room will contain its own activity, demo, performance or other happening. Rooms so far include; digital drawing activities sponsored by the Calibraska Arts Initiative, spring themed musical numbers with Sarah Melnick on a variety of instruments and vocals, a virtual and interactive hike zoomed in from Phoenix, AZ, an imaginative make your own adventure with Megan Dickerson from the New Children’s Museum(San Diego), hitting the kitchen with Shawnee Badger, and so much more!
Our director, Jeremiah Dockray will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and will chaperone guests to the various rooms and be the time keeper so everyone gets to partake in their preferred happening.
Since some activities will be happening at various times, lengths and frequencies, we will share a schedule when all the rooms are set. This allows you the guest to plan your "visit" so you can hit all the rooms you'd like. Get primed by first checking out our presenters below.
Spring Equinox, Saturday March 20th 2-5pm PST
Wherever you are via zoom!
Taking barriers away from play opportunities, particularly self-directed play, is our driving mission and fundraisers like this are vital in fulfilling it. If your family is able to make a donation, you are helping ensure we continue to provide more events like this as well as educational programs, support groups, and in-person pop-up and permanent adventure playgrounds when it is once again safe to do so.
We want folks to come no matter their financial situation and we've priced this event in hopes that those who are able to give a little more... can and those who may not... won't be obligated to.
Tickets range from $0 to $25 and a single family can join in with one ticket. If you can give a little that's great if you can't that's ok too!
ABOUT SCV ADVENTURE PLAY FOUNDATION
Keeping play integral to our daily lives is a goal of the Foundation and our director, Jeremiah feels now more than ever, is the time to create opportunities for families to play and connect “As we head into Spring we want to playfully reflect on the many ways that nature invites us to explore and adventure in the outdoors. I’m very excited to be working with so many amazing people to celebrate entering Spring and to raise funds for our play advocacy. Though it’s not as easy to be together, we love to stay connected through events like this one. A playful community is a healthy community!”
Major Sponsors for SCV Adventure Play Foundation and the Spring Thing Fling include: Sam Dixon Family Health Center, 5th District Supervisor Kathryn Barger and Kaydian Design.
